How to Practice Gratitude

Gratitude from the Latin gratus, meaning pleasing or thankful is the feeling of appreciation you feel, when you have received some form of generosity from another. The generosity can come in many forms and from any source, material or non-material, kindness, support, help, gifts, and abundance.

  • Improves health and wellbeing

The process of Gratitude

  • Recognise – be aware of all forms and acts of generosity that are going on around you and the generosity being given to you.
  • Acknowledge – focus on the feeling of appreciation received from the generosity, let it expand and open and feel the beauty, joy and happiness.
  • Appreciate – know that you deserve generosity and show your appreciation, take the time to give thanks.

How to practice Gratitude

  • Thankyou – say it, think it, write a note
  • Journal – make it a practise to write everything you are grateful for in your journal
  • Meditation – make giving thanks a part of you meditation practise
  • Altar Practise – place items on your alter and give thanks
  • Give back – perform an act of generosity for others
