What is a Chakra?

Chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning “Wheels of Light”. The Chakras are spiraling energy centres which interact with and allow energy to flow between the Energy Field (Aura) and the physical body. Each Chakra brings in energy and emotion to certain areas of the body, and removes old unwanted energy and emotion from the body. The Chakras are shaped like a cone and their energy spins like a vortex or whirlpool. Each Chakra has its own vibrational frequency, with the Root Chakra being the lowest frequency and each chakra rising in frequency up to the Crown Chakra.

The Seven Major Chakras

There are seven major Chakras located on the body:

  • The Root Chakra is located at the perineum and coccyx bone, it is the colour red and has a vibrational frequency of 432Hz.
  • The Sacral Chakra is located below the belly button, it is the colour orange and has a vibrational frequency of 480Hz.
  • The Solar Plexus Chakra is located above the navel and below the diaphragm, it is the colour yellow and has a vibrational frequency of 528Hz.
  • The Heart Chakra is located at the centre of the chest, it is the colour green and has a vibrational frequency of 594Hz.
  • The Throat Chakra is located at the base and nape of the throat, it is the colour blue and has a vibrational frequency of 672Hz.
  • The Third Eye Chakra is located between the eyebrows, it is the colour indigo and has a vibrational frequency of 720Hz.
  • The Crown Chakra is located at the top of the head, it is the colour purple and has a vibrational frequency of 768Hz.

Chakra Wellbeing

Chakras need attention and care to maintain their balance and energy flow so they can operate at an optimum level of vibration for health and wellbeing.

  • Activate a Chakra to bring balance and harmony to the body and Energy Field.
  • Cleanse a Chakra to shift and release stagnant old energy and emotion.
  • Open a Chakra to restore a healthy energy flow through the Chakra.
  • Energize a Chakra to raise its vibrational frequency.

There are a variety of activities you can use to activate, energize, open and cleanse the Chakras they include yoga, exercise, breathing techniques, visualization, meditation, grounding/earthing, emotional and thought release, crystal healing, sound healing, colour therapy and Reiki.

Two easy ways to start to balance and energize your Chakras are to walk in nature, or go for a swim in the ocean or lake. Enjoy!
